Estoril Test Ends With Jack On Top

After a long winter break, the 2017 GP3 season kicked off in Portugal, with two official test days at Estoril. Having moved to ART Grand Prix during the off season – Jack has high expectations for the season ahead.

Both days were run in mixed weather conditions, making testing a little more challenging than it would be in the dry. Day 1 saw very limited running for the Anglo-Korean driver, and he ended the day just inside the top 10.

Day 2 saw very similar conditions, with unexpected (and unwelcome!) rain fall interrupting proceedings multiple times. The morning session saw more progress, with Jack ending up in the top 5. The final session of the test saw further rain initially, before the track dried up towards the latter stages. Jack continued his improvement – ending the session with a strong lap, putting him at the top of the standings.

Jack Aitken, P1: “Overall the first two days were about getting some data together and slotting into a new team, and apart from some crappy weather, it went really well! Even though headline times aren’t the focus, we finished the last session P1, which is always nice, but we still have plenty to do before Barcelona!”
